Presentation “Cossacks in Hollywood” was put on by CRA director and Los Angeles representative, Ivan Podvalov and Russian Los Angeles Research/Collective. Presenter, Mr. Mike Protzenko (CRA member) is the son of the Cossack trick rider Sergei I. Protsenko (1894-1984) who signed a contract with MGM studio and brought a group of Cossacks for the production of the “Cossacks” movie in 1927. Presenter talked about his father and gave a general description about Cossacks in Los Angeles. Russian Chorus from Yale University with only one day tour in Los Angeles visited presentation and performed some Cossack songs before presentation. The Chorus sang “Vechnaya pamiat” in memory of the composer Sergei V. Rakhamninoff (80 years after his death) who was a parishioner at the Holy Virgin Mary Russian Orthodox Cathedral prior the “Cossacks” presentation which took place at the Cathedrals museum room.
