The Congress of Russian Americans (CRA) expresses its deep concern and disappointment over the decision by California State Parks not to renew its Cooperating Association Agreement with Fort Ross Conservancy, bringing to an end a partnership that has lasted for more than fifty years.
Fort Ross is much more than a historic landmark. It is an irreplaceable symbol of Russian-American history, cultural heritage, and friendship between peoples. For decades, Fort Ross Conservancy has played an essential role in preserving this legacy through historical research, educational programs, restoration projects, cultural events, and community engagement.
The Congress of Russian Americans expresses its full and unwavering support for Fort Ross Conservancy, its leadership, members, and volunteers, whose dedication has helped preserve this extraordinary historic site for generations.
We firmly believe that more than fifty years of successful cooperation and public service deserve recognition, respect, and continuation.
We urge California State Parks to reconsider its decision and work toward renewing this historic partnership.
We also call upon our members, friends, and the broader Russian-American community to sign and share the petition in support of Fort Ross Conservancy:
